Evenings, Monday-Sunday
Bar Manje is a Caribbean restaurant and bar concept by Chef Kingsley John that is occupying the space that is Good Enough to Eat by day, for dinner seven nights a week. It is a homecoming for both Chef Kingsley and restaurant owner Jeremy Wladis, who began their working relationship 35 years ago when Kingsley arrived in New York from St. Lucia, and Jeremy hired him as a dishwasher in a restaurant that occupied this same space. As happens in the restaurant industry, Kingsley worked his way up to prep cook and line cook, and as he grew, he went on to work under Chefs Charlie Trotter, Daniel Boulud, and spent many years with Chef Marcus Samuelsson. His experiences brought him to and from New York, Washington, DC, and back to his home in the West Indies. All that travel and knowledge shaped his approach to fine dining and flavor and the desire to present his heritage on the plate, which brought the two men back together to present Bar Manje (meaning eat in French Creole) as a concept in residency at Good Enough To Eat. The 80-seat restaurant is now adorned with paintings by local artist Marcus Polo, and once 5 pm hits, butcher paper goes on the tables with a Bar Manje stamp in the middle, the lights go down, the music goes up, and the party begins.
